How to commission a design by Phil Ponvert
It's been my job for more than twenty years to develop high-quality, one-of-a-kind furniture and interiors for individual clients. My extensive experience allows for a seamless process from concept to finished project.
Call the shop.
Let's discuss your project.
We decide what your needs are.
Example: A dining table intimate enough for two that can still entertain eight friends. The design should compliment our new modern home and incorporate dark warm wood, artistic inlays, and a satin durable finish.
We decide what the budget is.
All my work includes custom, high-end craftsmanship, and by nature costs considerably more than mass produced products. Is the budget modest or generous?
We agree on a final concept and contract.
The average design takes 10-15 hours and includes drawing, communication, and samples. I charge for design time and ask for a non-refundable design fee. When the design is finalized, you will receive a contract that includes a cost estimate and time schedule. I require a deposit, usually 65% to start the project. The balance is due upon delivery.
I build your piece.
The average large piece of furniture takes about 6 months from initial contact to final delivery. Clients are welcome to visit the shop to see their custom piece being hand made. Sometimes design details are refined during construction.
You get a beautiful and unique design.
This is when the client gets to enjoy the fruits of our labor. Because of my thorough design work, clients have a good idea of what they will get. But few expect the beautiful, handmade, rare works they receive from
having me build an heirloom piece for their home. Now let's have dinner on that table!
